AtlantiCare CHAP

Do I Qualify?

Find out if you are eligible for the AtlantiCare Community Healthcare Access program.

Call the AtlantiCare Access Center at 1-888-569-1000 to schedule an appointment with an AtlantiCare CHAP financial counselor. Access Center Hours: Monday- Friday, 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Through your individualized financial counseling services, AtlantiCare CHAP will determine your eligibility for coverage options such as New Jersey Family Care (NJFC) or the Healthcare Insurance Marketplace and can discuss other options if you do not qualify for any of these programs.
Your appointment will take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Please arrive to your appointment with the following documentation:

  • Legal identification with a current photo such as a driver's license
  • Unemployment stub/Unemployment estimate document
  • Last pay stub from an eligible casino property (or business located in the casino property)
  • Proof of your current address (copy of a recent bill)
  • Social Security number, if applicable, and dates of birth for all dependents
  • Copies of bills with unpaid balances for healthcare services you received from AtlantiCare prior to September 30, 2014.

The recent casino closings in Atlantic City are creating hardship for many people in our community. Due to layoffs, thousands of our family, friends and neighbors, and their dependents, will lose their healthcare coverage.

True to our mission, AtlantiCare has evaluated how we can best assist these individuals and families during this time of transition, and how we can help make sure people receive adequate healthcare now and in the future.

For those who qualify, this program includes:

  • education
  • counseling and assistance around health insurance coverage and options
  • health insurance premium subsidy support;
  • resolution for outstanding medical bills for services received from AtlantiCare before September 30th of 2014
