AtlantiCare addresses mental health and names 2017 Diversity Champion Award during
sixth annual Diversity & Inclusion Event

More than 200 people attended AtlantiCare’s sixth annual Diversity & Inclusion Event, “Mental Health Matters,” Wednesday, October 11 at Stockton University.

The interactive event included a performance and presentation by the Mental Health Association of New Jersey’s Mental Health Players (NJMHP). Attendees learned about mental illness and the stigma that is often associated with having mental health challenges; as well as cultural differences that impact care. The audience interacted with the performers and asked questions.

During the event, AtlantiCare honored Charan Singh, Applications Systems Analyst III, as the 2017 Diversity Champion Award winner. Upon receiving the award, Singh shared that “AtlantiCare is great in supporting diversity, inclusion and the integration of communities. There are excellent opportunities for employees to get involved.”

Charan was nominated for his work to promote, support and embrace diversity both inside and outside of AtlantiCare. At AtlantiCare, Charan is part of PATHS, Interfaith Employee Resource Group. In the community, Charan has been actively involved in the South Jersey Indian Association since 2008. This past year, his role in the South Jersey Indian Association has evolved from group member, to Secretary and most recently as Vice President of the organization. He plays a key role with the organization’s annual parade and “Mela” (carnival) in Atlantic City.
