Beyond the obvious
AtlantiCare experts can share lesser-known causes of heart disease including stress; cardiac asthma or heart failure in elderly diagnosed with asthma or COPD; under- treatment of atrial fibrillation; under-diagnosis/lack of symptom awareness of heart disease among women and African Americans

AEDs save lives
AtlantiCare providers can share examples of how automated external defibrillators save lives. AtlantiCare’s Heart Heroes Matching Funds program has placed 248 AEDS in the community.

Wellness Wednesdays
Every Wednesday, AtlantiCare posts wellness tips through its social media channels. Wednesdays in February will feature nutrition and exercise tips for a healthy heart.

Staff Saturdays
AtlantiCare providers and staff share stories each Saturday through AtlantiCare’s social media channels. Each Saturday in February will feature a provider or staff member who plays a role in caring for patients’ hearts. Brittany Knapp, an echo technician and cardiovascular information systems administrator at AtlantiCare’s Heart Institute is among staff sharing stories. She tells how her career has evolved at AtlantiCare and describes heart care at AtlantiCare for one of her own family members. See the video here.

February 8, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Red Dress/Red Tie Reception
AtlantiCare will hold its 11th Annual Red Dress, Red Tie event at Historic Smithville Inn, Galloway, New Jersey. Proceeds of the event will benefit the AtlantiCare Heart Heroes AED Matching Funds Program. More than 225 people are expected to attend.

February 15, 7 p.m. - Facebook Live
Facebook Live: Getting to the Heart of the Matter - Jonathan Tardos, M.D., AtlantiCare Physician Group Cardiology, a cardiologist who specializes in electrophysiology will do a live chat through AtlantiCare’s Facebook page. His areas of expertise include atrial fibrillation (AFib); supraventricular tachycardia (SVT); slow heart rhythms, including heart block; and life-threatening heart rhythms, including ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF).
