AtlantiCare to consider qualified Recovery Court participants for employment

AtlantiCare announced today that it will consider qualified Recovery Court participants of the New Jersey Court system’s Atlantic and Cape May County Recovery Court, also known in other counties as New Jersey Drug Court, for employment.

“Working with our community to prevent and treat addiction and to support those in recovery is one of the ways we work to build healthy communities,” said Samantha Kiley, executive director, AtlantiCare Foundation. “Supporting those in recovery includes ensuring they have the necessary resources, and the ability to overcome barriers to sustain sobriety.”

“Those barriers include a lack of available employment opportunities and housing, said Richard Lovering, senior vice president for Administration and chief Human Resources officer, AtlantiCare. “We know Recovery Court participants can face obstacles in their search for meaningful employment. Our goal is that AtlantiCare and other employers partnering with Recovery Court can help participants overcome these barriers.”

“Partnering with Recovery Court and other community organizations is part of AtlantiCare’s system-wide initiative aimed at combatting the opioid epidemic,” said Kiley. “We look forward to working with the Honorable Mark Sandson, Recovery Court Judge, Atlantic and Cape May Counties, and his team.”

Recovery Court participants will follow the same application and hiring process required of all AtlantiCare job applicants.

If hired, the employee would still be a participant in Recovery Court until his or her graduation. As a continuing participant, the potential employee would be required to submit to routine, random drug testing by the court and would need to appear in court at least once a month during the early stages of employment. These requirements would continue until graduation.
