Welcome to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program. The program is dually accredited by the ACGME and the AOA. The ACGME accredited program is academically affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University, and the AOA accredited program is a member of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s OPTI.
The program incorporates traditional medicine with new practice trends. Our training includes exposure to patients with diverse medical backgrounds and pathology. We stress that the treatment of disease includes not only dealing with pathology but also supporting the patient’s well-being as a whole. This perspective enables us to formulate a rational, scientific, and personal approach to the care of each patient.
Residents are active participants in the evaluation and development of their training program based on their feedback, program evaluation surveys and suggestions. The program’s strength is derived from the camaraderie that exists amongst residents and faculty. The 42 residents in our program enjoy a diverse, hands-on learning experience by working directly with our teaching faculty. The osteopathic and allopathic residents work together on all rotations with dedicated rotations mandated by the AOA provided for the osteopathic residents.
Residents graduating from our three year categorical program are well prepared for private practice, academic teaching positions or fellowships in university programs. As you learn about our program, you will be convinced that we have created a comfortable yet stimulating atmosphere in which to train. Atlantic City and the surrounding area offer recreational activities to pursue in your free time. We are fortunate to be able to provide the best of both worlds to our residents.
