2016 Employee Giving Campaign

Thank You for Choosing to Make a Moment Matter

We are excited to announce that we exceeded our expectations for employee participation in the 2016 Employee Giving Campaign, AtlantiCare & Me, reaching 43 percent new employee donors. There were 259 members of the AtlantiCare family who chose to make a moment matter and helped to change lives by making a donation during the campaign, raising more than $42,000 in new dollars for the year.

The top three fund choices selected to allocate dollars to include:

  • 38% toward the Starfish Fund
  • 19% toward the Cancer Care Institute, a Fox Chase Cancer Center Partner
  • 11% (tie) toward community programs such as the Healing Arts, Healthy Schools, Healthy Children, Growing Green and Heart Heroes in total
  • 11% (tie) toward Hospice

It is this generosity that has increased the level of care we provide to the hundreds of community members every day, who look to AtlantiCare as a trusted healthcare provider in our region.

It is for these reasons, AtlantiCare will be able to continue to offer cancer patients financial assistance, provide readily available resources for teens who find themselves dealing with difficult situations, plant community and school gardens so every child has access to sustainable and healthy food choices, provide a calm healing environment with a beautiful piece of artwork in an otherwise stressful situation, and offer a child born prematurely a fighting chance with the most current technology in neonatal care.

It is for these reasons, the AtlantiCare Foundation can help advance our vision of building healthy communities…one patient, one family, one community at a time.

AtlantiCare Employees Gave Because...

Frank GazzaraFrancis “Butch” Gazzara

Clinical Manager, Health Park at Hammonton
AtlantiCare employee since 2009

Butch was at the forefront during a transitional time for the Hammonton community.  Their beloved community hospital was closing and AtlantiCare collaborated with community leaders to ensure the residents of the Hammonton area had access to emergency and other health care services.

 “Time and time again, I see AtlantiCare doing the right thing. They did the right thing when it came to Hammonton and over time, I think people were able to see that,” Butch said. “I see the good that they are doing for the community and it inspires me to give back what I can.”

Butch is proud to be part of an organization that strives to do the right thing and is inspired to support AtlantiCare in its efforts to serve every member of the community regardless of their ability to pay.

Crystal’s parents instilled the importance of giving in her and her brother, David McGuinn, at an early age. This led them both to lead a life of service to others in every aspect of their lives.

“AtlantiCare provides many wonderful opportunities daily for me to be in the positon to help patients, visitors and my AtlantiCare family,” she said. “It truly makes me happy to help others.”

Crystal’s positive experiences with AtlantiCare, both clinically and personally, with her mother’s battle with breast cancer and her brothers passing in the line of duty, solidified her belief in knowing small acts of kindness can mean so much to others.  Whether a friend or a stranger, whether financial or in the form of a hug,  it is the support  we show one another as a community that can mean a huge difference in someone’s life.

Monika loves being part of an organization that truly cares about its employees.

"When I learned about the Starfish Fund and how the money raised would be used to help employees and their families that suffered an unfortunate event, I decided it was a great opportunity for me to give back in a way that I could actually see the positive results my donation had," Monika said. "I believe in what the AtlantiCare Foundation does and that is why I give."

Monika hopes the people who have been touched by the kindness of AtlantiCare will pay it forward someday when they find another is in need. It is in the circle of kindness that she believes is the true definition of community spirit.
