AtlantiCare offers the full spectrum of care from a multidisciplinary team of leading specialists:

  • Radiologists
  • Pathologists
  • Pulmonologists
  • Thoracic surgeons
  • Oncologists

It’s been proven that an early lung cancer diagnosis can give patients a better chance for successful treatment. And the most effective way to get there is through a screening.

It’s important for you to know that Medicare and a majority of all private insurers now cover low-dose CT scans for people considered high risk for lung cancer. This is vital because our low-dose CT scan enables physicians to pinpoint lung cancer early.

The importance of a Lung CT Screening

As you may know, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the US. So it’s important to know the results of a National Lung Screening Trial found the low-dose screening (as opposed to chest x-rays) reduced lung cancer deaths among older heavy smokers by 20%. Additionally, screening at an early stage is critical because 90% of people with lung cancer die, in part because it’s found at an advanced stage.

If our specialists do find lung cancer, AtlantiCare is there for you every step of the way. We coordinate everything from evaluation and diagnosis to treatment, imaging studies, clinical trials, support and more.

To have a screening done, you’ll need a prescription from your physician, so please call your provider to request one.
