AtlantiCare donates five automated external defibrillators
to Casino Reinvestment Development Authority

AtlantiCare representatives presented five automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) on April 19 during a regularly scheduled CRDA Board meeting.

Adams-Palmieri-Meli-Bombara-McCulley-Fizer-Shetty-Triniwell-Tate-McCarthy-Blee-Mulcahy-PetersonRepresentatives of AtlantiCare and the AtlantiCare Foundation attended the CRDA Board meeting April 19, 2016 to present five automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to the CRDA.

The new AED devices are available for the CRDA's Atlantic City Ambassadors and General Maintenance employees, who are trained and certified in the operation of the units. The AEDs will be located at the Special Improvement Division (SID) warehouse on Connecticut Avenue, the CRDA Annex in Gordon's Alley, the CRDA office on Pennsylvania Avenue and on the roving General Maintenance and Ambassador vehicles that operate throughout the city.

Charisse-Fizer-addresses-CRDA-Board"We are pleased to present these AEDs to the CRDA today," said Charisse Fizer, vice president, Clinical Operations and Ambulatory Services, AtlantiCare. "Seconds matter when you're having a heart attack. Together we can save lives by dialing 911 for heart attach symptoms and having these defibrillators in the community and increasing awareness about the symptoms of heart attack."

The AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Heart Heroes covered the full cost of two AEDs and the AtlantiCare Foundation covered the cost of three AEDs. The ARMC Heart Heroes is a volunteer group that raises funds for the Heart Institute at ARMC through the AtlantiCare Foundation to place AEDs in the community. Organizations, groups and individuals can donate directly to the fund by making a gift to the Foundation. The Heart Heroes have placed more than 180 AEDs in the community since the ARMC Heart Heroes Matching Funds Program began in 2002.
