For Immediate Release: April 20, 2016
AtlantiCare representatives presented five automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) on April 19 during a regularly scheduled CRDA Board meeting.
The new AED devices are available for the CRDA's Atlantic City Ambassadors and General Maintenance employees, who are trained and certified in the operation of the units. The AEDs will be located at the Special Improvement Division (SID) warehouse on Connecticut Avenue, the CRDA Annex in Gordon's Alley, the CRDA office on Pennsylvania Avenue and on the roving General Maintenance and Ambassador vehicles that operate throughout the city.
The AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Heart Heroes covered the full cost of two AEDs and the AtlantiCare Foundation covered the cost of three AEDs. The ARMC Heart Heroes is a volunteer group that raises funds for the Heart Institute at ARMC through the AtlantiCare Foundation to place AEDs in the community. Organizations, groups and individuals can donate directly to the fund by making a gift to the Foundation. The Heart Heroes have placed more than 180 AEDs in the community since the ARMC Heart Heroes Matching Funds Program began in 2002.
AtlantiCare previously presented two AEDs to the CRDA, which included the 100th AED presentation AtlantiCare had made through the Heart Heroes Matching Funds Program.
