Although most women have normal deliveries, you can take comfort in knowing that AtlantiCare has the staff and technology to deal with complications, should they arise.
AtlantiCare is the only medical center in the region with a full-time maternal-fetal medicine program. The specialist team works to identify potential complications before a baby is born by using:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
AtlantiCare also offers the region’s only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of its kind. We provide 24-hour-a-day care by highly trained neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners from Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children – an organization nationally recognized for excellence in pediatric care.
Through our partnership with Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, you and your child have access to experts who are on site if an emergency or complication arises. So, when a baby is born prematurely or with medical complications at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, the child can remain here for care – close to home and family. The Center for Childbirth even provides a room where parents can stay overnight, if they choose.
