Antibiotics
- According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), antibiotic resistance has been called one of the world's most pressing public health problems.
- Antibiotic resistance can cause significant danger and suffering for people who have common infections that once were easily treatable with antibiotics. When antibiotics fail to work, the consequences are longer-lasting illnesses, more doctor visits or extended hospital stays, and the need for more expensive and toxic medications. Some resistant infections can even cause death.
- When used, common side effects of antibiotics include diarrhea, yeast infection, allergic reaction, among others.
- Common viral infections that should not be treated with antibiotics include colds, flu, most coughs and bronchitis, sore throats (except for those resulting from strep throat), and some ear infections.
- There are no beneficial effects of antibiotics on the treatment of viral illnesses.
Pain Management
- We want to safely treat your pain.
- According to the CDC, overdoses of opioid prescription drugs now kill more people in the U.S. than heroin and cocaine combined.
- There are many non-narcotic alternatives to treat pain.
- To ensure your safety, we participate and actively engage in the NJ Prescription Monitoring Program.
- Due to complexity, we refrain from treating patients with chronic pain using narcotics. However, we will be happy to guide you to a pain management specialist.
