About Me
The intricate workings of the heart and vascular system intrigued Dr. Said Ashraf from an early age. “It’s fascinating—the sophisticated harmony of blood supply, electrical conduction, valves and chambers with other organ systems interacting. And the slightest change in this complex balance from disease can bring significant limitations,” he says.
Dr. Ashraf delivers comprehensive heart care—screening, diagnosis and management. “A blockage in the arteries supplying blood to the heart can compromise quality of life and worsen cardiac function over time. It can even be life threatening, setting up a heart attack. As an interventional cardiologist, I perform procedures that prevent these poor
outcomes,” he explains. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. A graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College in Pakistan, he moved to the United States in 2014 and
completed his residency in internal medicine followed by a successful fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Detroit Medical Center—Wayne State University in Michigan.
He pursued further sub-specialization in interventional cardiology at New York University in Manhattan, where he learned complex coronary and peripheral vascular procedures from world-renowned experts. He has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at numerous national and regional conferences. During his training, he volunteered on the community outreach committee and also served in leadership roles on the education steering committee and resident council. He also worked with the American College of Cardiology, developing educational content for national conferences.
“I take a holistic approach to patient care. Performing procedures in the catheterization lab is important, but working with patients to help reduce risk factors and manage coronary artery disease, heart failure and other diseases is most gratifying. From a young age, I was inclined towards helping others. As a career, medicine offers the chance to do that every day,” he says. Dr. Ashraf lives in Mays Landing with his family. He looks forward to serving the southern New Jersey community as a member of the highly experienced and exquisitely trained AtlantiCare cardiology team.
