About Me
Jeffrey M. Finkelstein, M.D., DMD, FACS, joined AtlantiCare Physician Group Ear, Nose and Throat in June 2019 as an otolaryngologist. Board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, he has over 25 years’ experience in head and neck surgery with a special interest in disorders of the voice box and treating problems of the airway
\nand esophagus.
\nHis preparation was unique. He is also a trained dentist. That gave him a significant head start in medical school, where he arrived with the skill needed for surgery and an in-depth education in the anatomy of the head and face. “Much of what we see on a daily basis involves the interaction between the jaw and the TMJ, the temporomandibular joint, like ear problems, swallowing and sleep apnea. Dental training adds tremendous insight to ear, nose and throat management,” he says.
\nGraduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine increased his interest in more advanced practice. He decided to seek medical training even before his dental career began. He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He trained in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at University of
\nChicago Hospital and Clinics and in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Yale University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
\nAt AtlantiCare, he uses his expertise and experience to manage the full range of ear, nose and throat disorders, including hearing loss; tinnitus; vertigo; problems of the nose and sinuses; voice, throat and swallowing issues; salivary gland infections; facial nerve paralysis and tumors.
\nBeyond his clinical qualifications, Dr. Finkelstein takes pride in his people skills. “Building personal relationships is most rewarding. That’s what it’s all about. My goal is to develop a good rapport with each patient and carefully explain everything rather than just giving orders. With that approach, they are more likely to follow treatment
\nguidelines and more likely to get better. It’s a win-win,” he says.
