About Me
Yvette A. Bridges was teaching high school after graduating from Princeton when she decided to become a doctor. When she visited her OB/GYN she saw an opportunity. “I was going to the doctor and noticing there were no female OB/GYNs available to women,” Bridges says. “I was motivated by the thought I could provide more knowledgeable, compassionate care for women that, at the time, was not an option.”
\nAs a member of AtlantiCare Physician Group OB/GYN, Dr. Bridges uses her love of education and a passion for patient care to provide expert women’s care to the members of our community. She earned her medical degree at Rutgers
\nUniversity Medical School, then completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
\nBridges says obstetrics and gynecological care is deeply personal, and she believes providing care begins with earning her patients’ trust. When they are comfortable sharing their stories she can work with them to create an appropriate plan of care. “It is imperative that when you take care of someone you take care of the whole person, and I like that,” she says. “When I’m in the room with a patient one on one, no matter who that patient is, I give them respect in addition to my technical skills.”
\nOne of the joys of her career is the ability to continue educating others. For many years she helped train new doctors, and she enjoys working with new doctors to share information and learn from one another. “It’s just a constant, fluid educational environment, and that is very important to me,” she says. “I really enjoy that aspect of medicine.”
