About Me

Dr. Fernando Delasotta is passionate about healing and treating his patients with care. “Neurological problems can generate anxiety. I get to know each patient personally and work hard to make myself accessible for questions and concerns,” he said. He was previously Medical Director of Neurosurgery at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. Board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, he specializes in surgery of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. He has more than 20 years’ experience in diagnosis and treatment of chronic back pain, disc disease, spinal cord injury and tumor disease. He is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Delasotta is a biology graduate of Catholic University, Santiago, Chile, where he also earned his M.D. His surgery internship was at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and Medical Center, New York. He completed neurosurgery residencies at the Chilean Institute of Neurosurgery and Brain Research, Santiago and at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York. He served a neurosurgery fellowship at the Bronx Veterans Administration Hospital, New York. Generous in sharing his time and expertise, he is a volunteer member of the Spinal Cord Injury and Trauma Peer Review Committees. He has previously served on the ICU Committee, Radiosurgery-Navigation Committee and on the Board Of Trustees of AtlantiCare Foundation. Dr. Delasotta is trauma certified and teaches other professionals in trauma management. Active in his profession and sought after for his knowledge, he has been a faculty member and presenter at many meetings and conferences around the world. He is active in professional associations and serves as a clinical instructor in neurosurgery at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. For his lifelong commitment to quality care, continuing education and peer mentoring, Dr. Delasotta received an AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Physician Recognition Award in 2008, recognizing his outstanding service to patients, families, visitors and co-workers.
