About Me
“No one knows the pelvic floor better than midwives,” says Angelia Kae Flipping of AtlantiCare Physician Group Urogynecology – where she specializes in diagnosing and treating pelvic floor disorders including incontinence and prolapse. “I am like a detective who asks the right questions and gains the patient’s trust. Together, we find a solution,” she says. Angelia is board-certified as a nurse midwife and surgical first assistant by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. A graduate of Seton Hall University, South Orange, New Jersey; she earned her nurse midwifery certificate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark; and her master’s from Samuel Merritt College, Oakland, California.
\nAngelia is trained in all aspects of OB/GYN care, including pelvic exams, delivery, surgery, ultrasound, circumcision and vacuum extraction. She was always drawn to obstetrics and gynecology. But at the time of her training, opportunities in OB/GYN nursing were limited. Undaunted, she looked for another way in and found it in midwifery.
\nDr. Blair Bergen, chairman of AtlantiCare’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, named Angelia among the skilled and dedicated practitioners who founded AtlantiCare’s Center for Childbirth. She has been part of the AtlantiCare family for decades, delivering comprehensive care to parents and babies before, during and after delivery. She recently made the switch to urogynecology. “The members of the women’s health team are a family,” says Angelia. Having decades of experience in multiple disciplines, Angelia thinks of herself as a walking directory who connects patients with a professional who can help. “It’s enjoyable when patients return and say ‘I am fixed!’ That is what makes a career. That is what means the most,” she says.
