About Me
Dr. Francis J. Schanne joined the AlantiCare community in February 2024. He provides general urologic care with a focus on cancer patients and robotic surgery. Dr. Schanne is dedicated to helping patients and their families tackle the complexities of cancers of the prostate, kidney and bladder. Dr. Schanne also provides a full array of treatments for kidney stones, voiding dysfunction, enlarged prostate and sexual dysfunction.
\nHe takes great pride in educating patients, answering all their questions, and ensuring they always remain active participants in the treatment decision-making process. He believes that physicians’ patient care should extend well into the ‘survivorship’ stage of the patients’ journeys – it’s a fundamental commitment to all those who fall under his care.
\nDr. Schanne has deep roots in Philadelphia. He was born in New Jersey, earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Villanova University, his medical degree at Thomas Jefferson University Sidney Kimmel Medical College and then completed his residency in urology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Upon completion of his training, he served four years’ of active duty in the U.S. Army as a urologist at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia.
\nDr. Schanne has extensive experience and has held leadership roles in urologic robotic surgery. He was the first to provide several new urologic robotic procedures at Christiana Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital in Delaware. He has published several medical articles on the subject and previously served as Director Of Robotics in Urology at Hahnemann University Hospital and as Director of Robotic Surgery, Medical Director of Urology, and Chief of Surgery at Cancer Treatment Center of America, both in Philadelphia.
