About Me
Abigail Madrigal grew up with a love of science and an interest in helping others. In health care, she found a profession perfectly suited to positively impacting others. As a Nurse Practitioner at AtlantiCare Physician Group Cardiology, Madrigal is able to counsel patients on how to achieve their health goals while improving their quality of life. “Every patient is different, so what can I do to help each individual patient in the best way,” she says. “I’m passionate about finding ways to help patients stay on their prescribed regiment, meet them where they are and help them to have the best quality of life with their chronic disease.”
Madrigal earned her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Nursing from Stockton University in Pomona, New Jersey. She is scheduled to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Stockton University in May 2022. In completing her doctorate, Madrigal is studying the effect of smartphone applications on medication adherence and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. It reflects her interest in patient education and using technology such as phones and fitness trackers to improve health outcomes for the people she cares for.
Madrigal sees patients diagnosed with heart failure, who have received a stent or angioplasty, are recovering from a heart attack, or have atrial fibrillation. Her experience working as a nurse in the Heart and Vascular Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center informs her approach to patients, and working with each one on their individualized plan for success gives her great satisfaction. “There’s really nothing better than being able to help someone,” she says. “So, when it clicks and people realize what they need to do to get the best outcome, it’s very gratifying.”
