About Me

As a young man, Dr. Bansal knew he wanted to pursue a professional career. With skills in math and science, he considered both engineering and medicine – but medicine held the stronger draw since it presented the opportunity to help people more directly. “Making the journey less stressful for my patients and their families is what makes my work worthwhile,” he says.
Dr. Bansal is board-certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine and pulmonary disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is fluent in English and Hindi. He earned his medical degree at Armed Forces Medical College, University of Pune, India. He completed his residency at AtlantiCare. He did his critical care medicine fellowship at Medical Center in New York and his pulmonary medicine fellowship at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale University in Connecticut.
Dr. Bansal treats patients with asthma, COPD, sleep disorders and lung cancer, among other respiratory diseases. He also works in the AtlantiCare intensive care unit, where pulmonologists play a key role. “In critical care, the patients are very sick and often fighting for their lives,” he explains. “We help them get through the crisis and back to a normal life – it is very gratifying.” Dr. Bansal chose his specialty during his residency at AtlantiCare. “I realized that the incidence of pulmonary disease was growing exponentially and affecting so many people. I knew this was the best way I could help people live better lives,” he says.
After his training, Dr. Bansal worked in Louisiana and Virginia for several years before returning to AtlantiCare. “I enjoy working with my colleagues here. Coming back to AtlantiCare was like coming home.”
He spends a lot of time teaching residents and has been named AtlantiCare’s Teacher of the Year on several occasions.
