About Me

As an endocrinologist, Dr. Sun takes care of people with hormone-related problems, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, metabolism and pituitary disorders. “Endocrinology is a branch of internal medicine and I work with other internists addressing the hormone perspective,” he explains. “I was drawn to endocrinology because it’s logical and hormones make sense. In some medical fields, not everything is fully understood and treatments are not well established,” he says. “But the functions of hormones are fairly well known and studied. That knowledge enables us to develop a clear treatment plan once the complicated details of each case are established.”
\nDr. Sun is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. He also holds a master’s of public health from Yale University, New Haven, Conn. He completed an endocrinology fellowship at University of California, Irvine. He served a residency in neurology at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, and a residency in internal and preventive medicine at Griffin Hospital –  Yale University. His internship was at Boston Medical Center.
\nDr. Sun became a doctor following in his father’s footsteps and he treats all his patients as he would his own family. “I try to see each patient holistically. For example, a person with diabetes may have poor control of their disease and several related complications. I treat the whole patient with a combination of interventions to gain control of the diabetes, reduce complications and improve quality of life,” he says.
\nDr. Sun embraces the AtlantiCare mission and appreciates the exceptionally friendly and collegial atmosphere created by all members of the clinical team.
