Audrey Kingman’s interest in medicine began with her watching episodes of “ER” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” But it was a summer spent at a maternity hospital in Mongolia that led her to a career in women’s health and obstetrics.

She not only witnessed the power and beauty of birth, but also what happens when women are deprived of proper care, family planning and health education. This experience, combined with a passion for women’s rights and empowerment, motivates Kingman to be the best midwife possible.

\n\n

“My goal,” she says, “is to create a nonjudgmental environment that invites the patient to drive the conversation so I can better understand their needs and priorities and values.”

\n\n

Kingman went to the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing as well as her master’s degree in nurse midwifery and women’s health. During that time, she cared for patients as a labor and delivery nurse in New York and New Jersey.

\n\n

In caring for women at such an important time in their lives, Kingman believes open and transparent communication is vital to providing excellent patient care. By building strong relationships, she is able to support her patients when they are most vulnerable.

\n\n

“Even when things don’t go as planned, the rapport I build with my patients enables them to trust that I will do everything in my power to take care of them,” she says. “This practice extends to all aspects of my care, from adolescence and beyond.”

\n\n

In her spare time, Kingman enjoys going to the gym and spending quiet nights at home with her husband. She also loves musicals. Her favorite is “The Lion King” on Broadway.
