About Me
One of Brittany Dougherty’s oldest, dearest and best friends is an advanced practice nurse at AtlantiCare. The advice her friend shared with Dougherty, an APN at AtlantiCare Physician Group, Cardiology, as she considered joining the
\norganization, was simple: Do it. You won’t regret it. “One thing I look for in an organization is what are their values? What is their mission,” Dougherty says. “I was so happy to see how AtlantiCare’s mission and values align with my own desire to focus on providing superior quality of care while working to support the greater community.”

Dougherty earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Widener University in Chester, Pa. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. She spent several years working as an inpatient nurse, and while she found the work rewarding, Dougherty also felt she could do more.
\nAt APG Cardiology, Dougherty works as part of the structural heart program team, working with patients receiving
\nthe Watchman, PFO and TAVRs procedures. She guides her patients through every step of their surgical journey, developing relationships with them across weeks and months to help them achieve a positive outcome.
\n“In the outpatient world, you can really collaborate with patients and help them find the resources they need to be successful,” Dougherty says. “When I see my patients I take as much time as they need to feel comfortable and confident in their care. Building that relationship and trust is very rewarding. “Many of our patients are suffering with a
\nvariety of cardiovascular symptoms that affect their ability to perform daily activities they once enjoyed,” she continues.
\n“Being part of this team, and seeing how much time they spend on each and every patient … that means a lot to me.”
\nSince childhood, Dougherty has enjoyed visiting the shore, a tradition she continues with her husband. She also enjoys
\nbeing active, whether by hiking with her dog, kayaking, skiing, gardening or baking.
