Caitlin Fisher, APN

For Caitlin Fisher, becoming a nurse practitioner fulfilled a life goal. “I knew that’s what I wanted to do when I was very young,” she says. “The nurse practitioner at my childhood pediatrics practice inspired me. She was patient, kind and always took the time to explain everything to my parents and me.” Caitlin is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s at Stockton University, where she also completed a post-graduate certificate in pediatrics. She completed a nursing residency focused on emergency medicine at Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, a level I trauma center.
\nShe has been part of the AtantiCare family since 2012, working as a staff and charge nurse in the emergency department, where she was also active as a preceptor to new nurses. “They’re the future of nursing and I really enjoy helping them. It’s how I give back,” she says. Her ER experience exposed her to just about everything, so she could have pursued almost any specialty. “AtlantiCare’s urology team really impressed me. We work well together, rely on one another and it’s a fantastic learning environment. The doctors are committed to teaching, keeping the whole team up to date,” she says.
\nShe says building long-term relationships with her patients is really important, since urological problems can be short-term or long-term – and they have an impact on overall health. “Everything’s interrelated. It’s really important that we treat the whole patient. That’s part of my daily goal to be the best provider I can be,” she says. Working at the shore is a bonus. “I always knew I’d come back. This is home. And I’m excited to provide the best possible care right here, keeping my patients close to home.”
