About Me

Considering his lifelong love affair with sports, it’s no surprise that Dr. Frederick Dalzell dedicated his career to orthopaedics and sports medicine. Dr. Dalzell grew up in Linwood in a sports-oriented family. He has been part of Holy Spirit High School football most of his life – first as a star quarterback and later as a team physician. “I still love sports, continue to participate as a team doctor and enjoy taking care of athletes of all ages,” he says. He is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and trained to treat problems in the knees, shoulders and other joints. With four decades’ experience, he works carefully to match the most appropriate treatment to each patient, considering all the unique factors and lifestyle goals. “We explore all the options before deciding on surgery. Many patients respond to more conservative treatments, like physical therapy or injections for arthritis,” he says. Dr. Dalzell is a cum laude graduate of Princeton University, where he lettered all four years as the football squad’s record-setting quarterback. He earned his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College–Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, where he also did his general surgery internship. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, New Haven, Connecticut. He was previously Medical Director of Orthopaedics at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and has served in many leadership positions both on the medical staff and hospital board. He was honored with a “Top Doc” award from South Jersey Magazine and “Best of the Press” from the Press of Atlantic City. He was also selected by his peers to serve as president of the New Jersey Orthopedic Society.

He loves orthopaedics for its very rewarding, real results. “I get to help people with fractures get better, see athletes return to their sport and get people with arthritis more active with less pain,” he says.
