About Me

Most medical students would be content earning their medical degree. Not Kaitlin Healy.

\n\n

At the same time she was training to be a doctor, she was earning a master’s degree in urban bioethics, the study
\nof health equity. It is a subject that has informed her empathetic and holistic approach to medicine.

\n\n

“I want to meet people where they are and build a relationship with my patients,” she says, “so we can have open
\nand honest communication about some of the things that initially might not seem connected to their health but can
\nhave an impact on it.”

\n\n

Healy earned her medical and master’s degree at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in
\nPhiladelphia, then completed the Crozer Health Family Medicine Program based in Springfield, Pennsylvania, where
\nshe served as chief resident.

\n\n

As a family medicine specialist at AtlantiCare Physician Group Primary Care Plus in Rio Grande, Healy is looking
\nforward to using her training and interpersonal skills to build meaningful connections with her patients so she can
\nbest treat their healthcare needs. Her background in bioethics inspires her to make sure the people she treats are
\neducated and empowered to take charge of their health.

\n\n

“Because I better understand social determinants of health, I know that being healthy and prioritizing health are a
\nluxury,” she says. “As a result, I am better able to recognize when there may be more going on with my patients
\nthan what’s on the surface.”

\n\n

In her spare time, Healy enjoys spending time outside, especially at the beach and playing disc golf with her
\nhusband. She also bakes and likes to try new things, such as knitting.
