About Me
A lifelong passion for sports led Nick Auleta to a career as a physician assistant. Like most athletes, he had some injuries. “I played soccer in college and ended up needing surgery,” he recalls. “The PAs that took care of me kind of opened the door to my career,” he says.
Nick was studying to be a nurse at the time, inspired by his mother who spent her career in nursing. “Growing up with two brothers, we all played sports and were often injured. Watching her handle that impressed me. And it made me realize I wanted to do the same for others,” he says.
Nick is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. A biology graduate of Stockton University, Galloway, he earned his master of physician assistant studies at Le Moyne College, Syracuse, N.Y.
He assists the surgeons with procedures in the operating room and monitors patients in recovery. He also sees them in the office, where he performs minor procedures and helps them manage their medications.
Nick’s sports experience naturally led to orthopedics. After three years at Shore Orthopedic University Associates, Somers Point, he was ready for a change. He made the switch to plastic and reconstructive surgery when he joined AtlantiCare. “I see it as a great way to improve my surgical skills,” he says.
“Having been on the patient side so many times, I want my patients to feel heard. I work hard for a good outcome. In orthopedics, that meant getting them back on the field. In plastic surgery, it’s helping people look the way they want to look, especially after an injury,” he says.
