Phillip C Cobrand, CNM

Midwife and nurse practitioner Phillip Cobrand has years of experience in patient care, but specializing in women’s health was not originally on his radar. “I was apprehensive about the maternity rotation in nursing school, but by the end of the six weeks, I loved maternity care and women’s health and knew that would be my focus,” he explains.

Phillip provides the full spectrum of care before, during and after childbirth. He cares for women of childbearing age through geriatrics. He has conducted research on improving oral hygiene in women of child bearing age to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes.
He is board certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and National Certification Corporation. He earned a doctorate in nursing practice in nurse midwifery and women’s health at the University of Utah. He is a bachelor’s in nursing graduate of Duke University and he holds a bachelor’s in health systems administration from
University of Central Florida.
Phillip’s first clinical experience was as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy. His career has been focused on healthcare, both in administration and patient care. In addition to his Navy experience, he has experience with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, the Army National Guard and in clinical practices affiliated with Duke University, University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Utah. “I missed bedside care during my years in administration and knew I wanted to get back to nursing. AtlantiCare’s OB/GYN services are well respected. I am looking forward to learning from the best,” he says.
With his wife and their youngest son, Phillip recently relocated to southern New Jersey from Utah. The family enjoys outdoor activities like archery, hiking and fishing. Indoors, they share a passion for movies, puzzles, video games and comics. He is also active in the children’s education ministry of his church. “I love working with children and
helping them discover God’s calling in their lives,” he says.
