Sandy Nosseir, MD

Sandy Nosseir loves to see how things work. As a child, this meant peeking under rocks, peeling apart flowers and exploring nature. As an urogynecologist with AtlantiCare, it means working with her patients to educate and empower them to improve their quality of life. “As long as I can remember I’ve been interested in all the facets of how things work, inside and out” says the Long Island, New York, native. “I like to see the picture of the puzzle before you build it and not get stuck in a corner. I like to see the whole person that I am treating before honing in on their symptoms.”
\nNosseir received her medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology, including appointment as chief resident, at Yale New Haven Health, Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and her fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at Northwell Health, North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Great Neck, New York. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.
\nAt AtlantiCare Urogynecology, Nosseir focuses on women’s health, particularly prolapsed organs and incontinence. In her experience, it is an underserved specialty that many people may not fully understand. She emphasizes education and awareness with patients to make them comfortable discussing what can be a sensitive topic.
\n“Empathy is very important with what I do because patients who come to me may not know what’s wrong and may not want to talk about what’s wrong,” she says. “It calls for a great deal of compassion and having a space where they can come and speak to you about their situation.”
\nWith her free time, Nosseir enjoys solving puzzles and riddles and spending time in the outdoors, including kayaking, swimming and exploring nature.
