About Me
For Dr. Widalys Adames, family practice gives her the opportunity to participate in a complete continuum of care. “It allows me to experience the full scope of medicine, seeing many different challenges in a wide range of patients and in a variety of care settings,” she says.
\nDr. Adames is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She provides general medicine treatment, prevention and wellness care for the entire family, with a special interest in women’s health. She is fluent in Spanish.
\nDr. Adames is a magna cum laude biology graduate of University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. She earned her medical degree at Ponce School of Medicine, Ponce, Puerto Rico. She completed her family medicine residency at Rutgers –
\nRobert Wood Johnson University Hospital at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, N.J. and also served an internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
\nShe says her older brother encouraged her towards a career in medicine. “I am the youngest of three. My brother, the eldest, saw in me the discipline and dedication needed to achieve a medical degree. With my family’s support I became the first physician in my family. I am glad I listened to him,” she explains.
\nSince completing her residency training in New Jersey, Dr. Adames moved to Ohio, where she gained valuable family practice experience at Marietta Memorial Health System in Marietta. She also volunteered at the area clinic, providing care to the underprivileged. Coming to AtlantiCare brings her back to New Jersey, where she will also be closer to her family and that of her husband.
\n“AtlantiCare is focused on delivering high quality care with excellent work–life balance for its doctors. My simple desire is to see my patients do well. After all, without health, we have nothing,” she says.
