How Are Pelvic Floor Disorders Diagnosed?

Depending on your symptoms, we may need to run one or several tests to diagnose your disorder. These could include:

  • Cystoscopy/ureteroscopy: A diagnostic procedure that allows your doctor to see inside your bladder or urethra using a small-lighted scope, special lenses and mirrors
  • Ultrasound: Uses sound waves to study the anal sphincter, bladder, urethra, kidneys, ureters or other pelvic organs
  • Dynamic fluoroscopy: A relatively quick and painless procedure that uses X-rays and contrast material (dye that shows up on X-rays) to project an image of rectum, vagina and bladder, on a fluorescent screen
