He is a graduate of Yanbian University School of Medicine in China, and earned his PhD in biochemistry from Hirosaki University School of Medicine in Japan. When he came to the United States, he used his PhD to help research and develop cancer drugs. Dr. Shen then completed his residency in Family Medicine at Louisiana State University School of Medicine at New Orleans.

Prior joining AtlantiCare Family Practice, Dr. Shen practiced in Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, PA; Lourdes Medical Associate in Camden, NJ; as well as Private practice at Elkton, MD.

A board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Shen uses his research background to inform his clinical approach to care. At all times, he focuses on each patients’ individual situation, and how he can make a positive impact on their health through education and prevention.

“As a physician, when I see a patient who is suffering and after treating them they are much better or cured, that makes me feel proud,” he says. “That means I did something for my patient to help them improve, and that’s the best reward.

Dr. Shen is fluent in English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. When not caring for patients, he enjoys reading and a variety of physical activity, including running, weightlifting, skiing and fishing.
