About Me
Dr. Abraham M. Spence is a board-certified urologist in the South Jersey community. Originally from Pittsford, NY, he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry. He earned a minor in Economics and a Certificate in Management Studies from the Simon School of Business. He completed his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania and residency training in General and Urologic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Spence is an expert in a wide range of urologic conditions such as kidney stones and enlarged prostate to kidney, bladder, and prostate cancer while specializing in various treatments and procedures. He is recognized for his compassionate bedside manner and ability to connect with patients and colleagues. He possesses exceptional clinical understanding and commitment to delivering personalized, evidence-based care to his patients. Dr. Spence has had a strong interest in leadership and solving dilemmas that impact patient care. He evolved his career beyond clinical training by serving as Chief Operating Officer in his prior role, developing a keen understanding of clinical efficiencies and the role of team-based care delivery.

Dr. Spence quickly put down roots in the South Jersey area and is committed to serving the community as he has practiced there for nearly 12 years. When presented with the opportunity to collaborate on establishing a urology program at AtlantiCare, he was eager to join. As part of AtlantiCare Physician Group Urology, Dr. Spence has committed to a vision that has evolved a contracted urology practice to become a leading urology practice in South Jersey consisting of 8 employed physicians, six nurse practitioners, and three registered nurses. The success of the transformation of the urology program in partnership with his colleagues has inspired him to take on a new leadership role within AtlantiCare. As the Chair of Surgery, he is committed to building an academic-level surgical program in the South Jersey community and providing exemplary care. He strives to improve patient safety, outcomes, as well as patient and physician experience. He aims to integrate medical knowledge and innovation to optimize clinical efficiencies and create a model institution in our community.
