About Me

Brian S. Winters, M.D., is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He joined AtlantiCare in 2014 and has extensive training in all aspects of orthopaedic surgery.

With 15 years of patient care experience, Dr. Winters shares AtlantiCare’s commitment to providing the best patient experience possible. He is active in research and contributes to the ongoing advancements in the field of orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery and has a special interest in fracture care, deformity correction, total ankle replacement, and avascular necrosis of the foot and ankle.

Dr. Winters was first introduced to medicine when he visited the hospital where his father worked as a pharmacist.

He was intrigued by the environment. This interest stayed with him into college where he first decided to pursue his passion. He volunteered in the ER of a nearby university hospital and was attracted to several specialties, but it was a college sports injury that solidified his decision to go into orthopaedic surgery. He required surgery to reconstruct an injured ligament and subsequently returned to competitive play. His interactions and experiences with his surgeon, the nurses, physical therapists and athletic trainers, all confirmed that this was the career he wanted to pursue.

His main motivation as a surgeon is to improve his patients’ quality of life, helping them to return to a normal and active lifestyle, using conservative methods when able and operative intervention when necessary.

Dr. Winters is also the attending surgeon at Rothman Institute Orthopaedics as well as an associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at The Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He sits on the Board for the NJ Orthopaedic Society.
