Thien H Hoang, DO

During his residency, Dr. Thien Hoang found his calling – endocrinology. He treats the full range of hormone-related problems, including diabetes, osteoporosis and thyroid, growth and adrenal disorders. “It’s very rewarding to see my patients improve with my help and encouragement,” he says.
\nDr. Hoang is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and board eligible in endocrinology. A biology graduate of Stockton University, Galloway, he earned his medical degree from Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, Pikeville, Kentucky. He completed his residency at Rowan University/Jefferson Health/Virtua and an endocrinology fellowship at Jefferson Health New Jersey.
\nHis interest in medicine started early. He had health problems as a child. On one occasion, he had pneumonia and was having a lot of trouble breathing. “My pediatrician performed exams, did lab work, X-rays and prescribed a course of therapy. I was amazed at how he put all that information together to make me feel so much better. I knew then that I wanted to help other people the way my doctor helped me,” he says.
\nHe left his native Vietnam for California. An uncle invited him to spend some time in Atlantic City and he fell in love with southern New Jersey, where he settled. During his undergraduate studies at Stockton, he jump-started his medical career by volunteering at AtlantiCare. “Joining AtlantiCare is a dream come true. I want to serve this community that I love, helping people live longer, healthier lives,” he says.
\nDr. Hoang feels a strong commitment to help underserved patients. With a team of other physicians, he has done volunteer work in Vietnam and is serving the robust Vietnamese community in Atlantic City.
