Mammography:

Mammography is used to detect breast cancer in Women AND Men. Here at AtlantiCare, we offer 3D Mammography Screening and Diagnostic Digital Mammography and Stereotactic Breast Biopsies. Grants such as Susan G Komen Central and South Jersey are also available to the community. This program provides education and screening to all women in Atlantic county and access to a screening and/or diagnostic mammography.

X-ray (Radiography):

X-ray is the oldest, most common form of imaging that uses electromagnetic energy to produce images on computer. X-ray is mainly used for the detection of bone injuries and can also be used to discover tumors, bone lesions, obstructions and other abnormalities within the body.

Ultrasound (Sonography):

Sonography is a non-invasive medical imaging procedure used to diagnose, treat and prevent medical conditions to organs or systems in the body. Our staff are all certified with the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers. To obtain this certification they had to pass a rigorous examination that tests their knowledge and practical real-world skills all of which take years of training and experience to acquire. Our services are available for scheduled outpatients Monday thru Friday at both the city and mainland campus.

CT Scan:

Computed Tomography(CT) is a method that uses X-rays to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
Located at our Atlantic City, Pomona and Egg Harbor Township Campuses, AtlantiCare provides multi-slice computed tomography (CT) services for adults and children using Image Gently/Image Wisely techniques in three convenient and easily accessible locations. The facilities are staffed with experienced, board-certified radiologists with special training in musculoskeletal and neuro-imaging. We are accredited by the American College of Radiology. Results and digital images are available promptly for referring physicians.

MRI:

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body.

Most MRI machines are large, tube-shaped magnets. When you lie inside an MRI machine, the magnetic field temporarily realigns hydrogen atoms in your body. Radio waves cause these aligned atoms to produce very faint signals, which are used to create cross-sectional MRI images — like slices in a loaf of bread.

The MRI machine can also be used to produce 3-D images that may be viewed from many different angles. Unlike X-rays and CT scans, an MRI doesn't use radiation. MRI is a noninvasive way for your doctor to examine your organs, tissues and skeletal system. It produces high-resolution images of the inside of the body that help diagnose a variety of problems.
