Arterial Disease
Schedule an AppointmentWhat Is Arterial Disease?
Arterial disease refers to conditions that affect the arteries, the blood vessels responsible for carrying oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the rest of the body. When arteries become narrowed, blocked, or weakened, blood flow is restricted, which can lead to pain, tissue damage, and serious complications such as heart attack, stroke, or limb loss.
Arterial disease is often caused by atherosclerosis, a buildup of fatty deposits (plaque) inside the arteries that reduces circulation. Many forms of arterial disease develop gradually and may not show symptoms until a serious event occurs, making early detection and prevention critical for maintaining vascular health.
