Career Planning Sessions and Panels: Every year recent graduates of our program are brought back to speak on a panel to connect with the current residents and answer their questions in a Q & A style session. One of sessions is by alumni who have completed or currently in a fellowship to answer questions about applying for Fellowship and opportunities. There is also a session by Hospitalists and Primary Care Physicians to answer questions about applying for jobs and life as an attending. These are well-received sessions as our alumni enjoy participation on these panels and want to give back to the program.
Osteopathic Conferences/OMT sessions: Are you a graduate from an Osteopathic College with dozens of hours of OMT lab or have you never even heard of an Osteopathic physician? It doesn’t matter to us because we know there is an Osteopath in every physician! Our curriculum occasionally incorporates Osteopathic Principles and Practice designed for all skill levels into the academic half day. We focus on a holistic approach to medicine including the body, mind and spirit components to care. We offer traditional curriculum activities that includes journal clubs to discuss and critique osteopathic literature, as well as OMT workshops to sharpen technical skills.
Fundamental Critical Care Support: This is a two day course delivered by our Critical Care Faculty. This course provides the residents the training to manage critically ill patients for the first 24 hours or until appropriate critical car consultation can be arranged.
Simulation: Residents spend an hour each week at the AtlantiCare’s Medical Education Simulation Center. Residents go over common emergency scenarios and procedures relevant to their career path. These sessions are led by faculty and simulation educator. This setting provides a learning environment that fosters critical thinking in a controlled environment.
Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS): Once a month our critical care faculty dedicates time to teach our residents on Point of Care Ultrasound.
