Program Director's Welcome Message
Welcome and thank you for your interest in our ASHP accredited, PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC). We are dedicated to the highest quality training according to ASHP and ARMC standards for our 3 residents. Our program is committed to providing a robust, flexible experience for residents, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure an outstanding experience and success for your future endeavors.
The Pharmacy Department extends across the AtlantiCare Health System and consists of two inpatient locations (Atlantic City and Pomona) and two satellite oncology locations (Egg Harbor Township and Cape May Court House). Additionally, transitions of care are facilitated by two retail locations within the hospitals that serve patients upon discharge from the hospitals as well as pharmacist-managed, outpatient hospital based clinics that manage anticoagulation, heart failure, and metabolic conditions.
Outpatient services continue with locations in Atlantic City, Galloway, and Manahawkin and facilitate care of employees at AtlantiCare as well as our clinic patients. The outpatient community sites support e-prescribing, electronic messaging, automated refills, a Meds-to-Beds program, MTDM services, and bar-coding software.
The Department actively participates in numerous administrative and medical committees including, but not limited to:
- Internal Review Board
- Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Subdivisions
- Department of Medicine
- Division of Cardiology
- Division of Infectious Disease
- Diabetes Leaders Team
- Infection Prevention Team
- Infection Control/Infectious Disease Collaborative
- Critical Care Committee
The inpatient pharmacies are open 24 hours a day and the distribution system is highly automated with Pyxis and Talyst systems. Prescribing and administration are also technologically enhanced with Computerized Physician Order Entry and Bar Code Electronic Medication Administration Records. The Pharmacy Practice Model is transitioning to a Decentralized Model with pharmacists stationed in the Cancer Centers and Critical Care Units, with expansion to other areas planned.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our program and we look forward to learning about you.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Joseph Reilly, BS, Pharm.D. BCGP
