About Me

Jeffrey Van Hook, D.O., joined AtlantiCare in 2011 and has served as Medical Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center since 2017. He is a founding member of the program, which was started in 2014 to meet an underserved need in the local community. In the field of interventional cardiology, Dr. Van Hook is particularly skilled in structural heart care, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and percutaneous closure of septal defects. He is highly skilled in patent foramen ovale (PFO) closures to reduce the risk of stroke and the minimally invasive Watchmen implant procedure that aids in sealing the part of the heart where blood clots commonly form. Dr. Van Hook performed the first balloon expandable and
self-expanding transcatheter valve replacement at AtlantiCare, and also pioneered the use of radial artery access for coronary procedures at AtlantiCare. In addition to the interventional management of coronary artery disease, he is also highly experienced in the treatment of peripheral arterial disease of the extremities and the treatment of carotid artery stenosis from an endovascular approach.
After completing medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey–School of Osteopathic Medicine (now Rowan University–School of Osteopathic Medicine), Dr. Van Hook completed internal medicine tract internship and internal medicine residency at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey. He then completed a three-year fellowship in cardiovascular disease and was appointed chief fellow in his final year of training.
He completed fellowship training in interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular interventions at Cooper University Hospital, making him one of the few heart specialists in the region to earn these added specialty qualifications. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Van Hook, a native of southern New Jersey, worked in emergency medical services
in Atlantic City.
