Dr. Joseph Lombardi, MD, MBA, FACS, serves as the Chief Physician Executive and Chair of the Heart and Vascular Institute at AtlantiCare. Widely recognized for his expertise in vascular and endovascular surgery, he brings over 30 years of medical experience to the field. He has authored more than 125 publications, primarily focused on aortic pathology, and specializes in complex open and minimally invasive aortic reconstructions. With extensive experience in treating aortic dissections, Dr. Lombardi continues to lead advancements in aortic care.

Dr. Lombardi’s Career -- Defined by Innovation

Dr. Lombardi’s is a board-certified Vascular Surgeon who studied medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, followed by specialized vascular surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania.

He grew up in South Philadelphia and spent his teen years working in his father’s meat store, where he developed a love for working with his hands and perfecting his craft. Though he didn’t initially see himself pursuing higher education, his natural talent for science and problem-solving led him to discover his true calling in medicine. In his free time, he enjoys tending his koi pond and spending time with his wife and their two grown children.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lombardi has led groundbreaking clinical trials, redefined the treatment of complex aortic conditions and developed transformative educational programs for future surgeons.
