What To Expect

Schedule an Appointment
Happy healthcare professional.

Your First Visit

  1. When you come in for your first visit, you will be greeted by our front office coordinator who will assist you in getting your new patient paperwork filled out.
  2. After your paperwork is complete, one of our medical assistants will bring you back into one of our treatment rooms to perform a variety of tasks including vital signs, testing to measure blood flow, and photographing your wound.
  3. Once the medical assistant is done, the nurse will come in and evaluate your wound by taking measurements, and review your medical records including your overall health, medication history, and medical history.
  4. After the nurse has completed their assessment, they will report to the doctor who will then come in to assess the wound, perform the necessary procedures and formulate a treatment plan.
  5. Once the provider is finished, the nurse will go over everything from your visit, and provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your wound until you return next week.
  6. Lastly, you will make your follow-up appointment at the front desk with the front office coordinator, who will schedule you a consecutive number of weekly visits to ensure commitment.

How We Work With Your Doctor

The AtlantiCare Wound Healing Center works with your personal doctor, just like any other medical specialist. We'll discuss your treatment program with your doctor and keep him or her updated on your progress, unless instructed otherwise.

Insurance Coverage

Most often Medicare and Medicaid reimburse for approved procedures. Many health plans cover the Wound Care Center treatment. Your coverage depends on your specific plan. Be sure to bring your insurance cards with you when you visit the center.
