A new outdoor water filling station promotes health and convenience at ACS. Starting this summer, ACS students and Cougar Camp participants can conveniently refill their water bottles at the newly installed outdoor water filling station, funded by grants from the AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children program. ACS Facilities Manager John Walley and his team completed the installation on Friday, May 24, 2024. The station is located adjacent to the elementary school playground, providing easy access for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school day without the need to go inside.
The AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children program also funded the filling station near the elementary bathrooms and the rear bus entrance, installed in 2022, as well as the filling station in the multi-purpose room, installed in 2018.
“We are deeply grateful to AtlantiCare for their generous support, which made this outdoor water filling station possible,” said Chief School Administrator Karen Oblen. “With water filling stations now available outdoors and at various locations within the school, we are fostering a healthier learning environment for our students and staff. Research indicates that these stations not only promote increased water consumption but also significantly reduce the use of disposable plastic bottles, benefiting both our health and the environment.”
