Pilgrim Academy Blog

Our school, The Pilgrim Academy, started as a small private Christian school over fifty years ago. Now we serve students pre-K through high school. The years immediately after the COVID pandemic, our enrollment experienced a boom. At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, we had over 450 students. We were unable to fit everyone in the original building, so we had to open another satellite campus about a mile away from our main school. Since our administration is very proactive and values safety, our main campus has been equipped with two AED units for several years. After opening another building, we had a dilemma of finding an affordable AED that would be up-to-date and in a good working order. We have heard about the AtlantiCare Healthy School program and decided to apply for an AED grant. The process was very easy and informative. Besides acquiring a new AED for our second campus, we were able to be a part of the AtlantiCare Healthy Schools webinar presented by an author and educator who gave a presentation about managing mental health concerns in schools. The representative who delivered the AED was very helpful; he provided the necessary information on our new AED and answered all our questions. The AtlantiCare Healthy Schools Program is a great asset to our community, and we highly recommend the schools to participate in it. We will absolutely look into other grants and programs within AtlantiCare Healthy Schools in the future.
