Students earn “dolphin dollars” for positive behaviors as part of our PBIS program. Each week, students are chosen at random to receive a prize if their dollar was selected from the bucket. We try to purchase prizes that are appealing to our students. (rubix cubes, bracelets, slime, key chains, etc.) Each week all the dollars are dumped into our dolphin tank. Once our tank is filled with dollars, the whole school will earn a prize (pajama day, dance party, movie day, extra recess, etc.). In addition to earning prizes, students can earn time in our Dolphin Den. We purchased stress balls, fidgets, pop-its, coloring books, bullet journals, etc. We used these items in our Dolphin Den and added them to each homeroom teacher’s Amygdala box. As part of our resilience program, each classroom has an Amygdala box filled with calm-down tools. This has really helped with our social-emotional learning. We also purchased prizes for our PBIS program and related arts activities. Students love to be recognized for their positive behaviors, and our PBIS program and Dolphin Den have really grown over the past few years. It has created a positive, fun environment for staff and students.
